Kinesthetic Learners

Kinesthetic learners learn best by moving their bodies, being active, they are "hands-on learners". They concentrate better or learn better where movement is involved.

These following tips will help you learn better if you are a kinesthetic learner,

- Make sure you are actively involved in this happening. Make sure to be hands-on.
- Sit where you can actively participate in classroom events.
- Sit where you can move without disturbing others.
- Draw pictures in class of what your being taught.
- Write down notes creatively.
- Ask and answer questions to keep active.
- Make models of concepts whenever possible.
- While your studying, move around. Keep yourself actively involved.
- Talk to yourself about material, walk around. Act out things you learned.
- Try working on chalk boards or white boards whenever you can.
- Use pictures of models from what you learned.
- Make sure you are comfortable with your writing equipment.
- Make sure you make yourself comfortable before you study.
- Make yourself note cards, flash cards and test yourself, sample tests.

These tips will help a Kinesthetic learner improve in their school work.
* If you are a student with an attention disorder like ADHD, following kinesthetic learning styles will apply and benefit you too.

Audio Learners

If you are an auditory learner, you learn best by spoken things, hearing things. Use the following tips to better succeed in school and receive good grades in your school subjects.

- Involve yourself in study groups in which you talk about subject, study and school related things.
- If possible, record class sessions, then replay them after school.
- If possible, record yourself speaking notes and important things from class. Then replay them when you want to hear the notes.
- Work things out aloud. So for example, doing a maths question, say the steps to yourself out loud so you can hear yourself saying the steps.
- Repeat important facts, phrases or words over and over with your eyes closed.
- Memorize things by making a song, jingle or sound attached to that information.
- Dictate things before actually writing them like on assignment papers.
- Be active in class discussions and participate in the discussion.
- When receiving a book or looking for a book, try to find an audio tape of that book.
- When encountering new words, sound them out syllable by syllable.
- Sit near the front of the class so you can hear the teacher better and are not distracted by other audible distractions.

These tips will help you improve your performance in school if you are an auditory learner.

Visual Learners

The Visual Learners

If you are a visual learner, you prefer images, pictures, colors and maps to organize information and communicate with others. You visualize objects, plans and results in your mind's eye. You have a good spatial sense which gives you a good sense of direction as well. Use the following study tips to help you do better for school.

If you have been categorized as an visual learner, you learn best by using pictures, images, color and visual media to help you learn. You need to use a lot of imagery in your visualizations.

Use the following techniques to help you learn visually

- Use Mind maps. Instead of text use colors and images where possible. Have at least more than four different colors.
- System diagrams can help you visualize the links between parts of a system, like an engine system. Replace words with pictures, and use colors to highlight major parts and minor parts to separate them visually.
Use color, layout, and spatial organization in your work, and use many 'visual words' in your work. Examples include see, picture, perspective, visual, and map.
- Color code things.
- Use flashcards
- Use highlighters to circle important words and phrases.
- Watch videos, like if doing research on history, watch some video on the particular history instead of reading big paragraphs.
- Diagram things

These tips will help you improve in school.

Use of Technology

Eg. Laptops, Computers & Ipads.

The use of technology in school is quite common. Computers are used in classes to do research, to create things on programs like photoshop. They are useful because, they provide you with access to internet for research, provide space to save data like pictures, work for school and so the list goes on. But for many the use of technology is a solution to some of their school issues. If you find yourself often forgetting/losing things and overall just not organized. Use a laptop/computer and organize yourself like this. This helps you to not lose things and you can get back to it later when opening your device. For students with attention disorders like ADHD students, often the use of technology is the way to keep them busy and focused in school. Often these students find them selves distracted because listening to a teacher speak for an hour is very boring. So these students tend to start playing with their pens, paper etc. But, if the student was given an Ipad or a laptop it would generally keep them more focused in school. For example, the touch screen of the ipad would keep them involved with what their doing. So, if you feel that using a laptop or Ipad would somehow help your education, then by means, use it.
However, mis-use during school is not an option. Do not use these as an excuse to play games in class by having them. These are to be strictly used for school purposes to improve your school grades. If, this behavior is seen, teachers may confiscate your ipad/laptop. So use it wisely in school.

Organization

Something thats very important to being successful in school is being organized. If you can't find your work for studying, or for class work then your scores are going to go down. Being organized is key to doing better in school. For your class work, keep a folder and organize it from chapter to chapter. So one section is for biology work you just finished and new section for chemistry. This will help you keep your work together, organized. Its easier to find and its a lot less easy to lose. If your working with the computers, organize a folder for all your school work. For example, this is how I organize my school work on my laptop.
As you can see from this image, I organize my work into my different school subjects. I then place all my work in the subject folder. This is how I keep myself organized on my laptop for my school work and don't lose all my files everywhere.
